Fukushima nuclear contaminated water is discharged into the ocean. What can we do?

According to CCTV news, on the 22nd local time, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced that the Japanese side will begin to discharge nuclear-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean on the 24th of this month. Kishida also stated that the relevant work has entered the final stage. It is reported that Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant has produced more than 1.3 million tons of nuclear-contaminated water. At present, about 100 tons of nuclear-contaminated water is produced every day. It is estimated that it will take up to 30 years to discharge nuclear contaminated water into the ocean.

According to a report by Kyodo News on August 21st, at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant of Tokyo Electric Power Company in Japan, radioactive substances with higher-than-normal activity were detected from the stagnant water in the embankment surrounding the nuclear-contaminated water storage tank in June. The results of the investigation showed, there were cracks in the hoses used to transport nuclear-contaminated water, and nuclear-contaminated water leaked out.
